Would love to have a Metro to think on in the mornings!
It's not that great honestly. Nine times out of ten it's a question of inserting yourself into a tiny little envelope of space and hoping the armpit you're under isn't too wiffy.
I can totally relate to this! Great stuff. I too used to find inspiration on the metro ... so many characters and different smells! You have a great blog going on here. Mind if I link to you?
Ooh would you? I'm getting right into this blogging. Been looking around for a good writing group for a while and all of a sudden I've found what I'm looking for. Wish I'd started doing this earlier, although I haven't actually been working on any stories lately, I'm a bit addicted to this!

Blogging can take over, can't it? I worry about this quite a bit. But then yesterday I finally got time to sit and write and a chapter just came flooding out faster than I can type (which is not as impressive as you might think given my typing speed).
I think that any time we put pen to paper or finger to keyboard, we're stimulating those creative juices. And who's to say which is 'better' or more important?
Personally, Verilion, I'd still look for a flesh and blood writers' group too. Reading your stuff aloud really helps methinks. And the coffee is good ...

I agree that a writer's group would be really good, but... it's that old metro, boulot, dodo conundrum. Most of the English speaking writers' groups here meet during the day when I'm at work. Then I found a 'meetup' group, which seemed to involve a lot of back slapping and no real rhyme or reason to the meetings and it wasn't what I was looking for. I guess I'm lucky that I'm not writing in a complete vacuum; at work my co-worker is a published writer and therefore I respect her opinion a lot and my best friend is a really good reader. So until I find something that suits my timetable the dialogue here is stimulating and I'm writing, which is the main thing.
Oh should have done this with the other comment, but Minx I read that piece on Skint Writer's blog and all the comments. It was a brilliant discussion and I didn't think I had anything brilliant to add to it. Will check it out later ... after I fix those links, or mess up even more!
I had a couple of weeks which involved a two hour journey to work and back and tried to write then - found that it was good for making notes which could later be worked up but not for completion
