Training Day

"There are three writer's in this group and look at you all!" Jane burst out exasperated.

We all kind of stopped and took stock of what we were not doing. We were supposed to be doing something about text forms. What we were doing was this: I was trying to do a yoga movement called the Frog, well that's what Floppy Moo told me as she flipped through a book on Japan and Anne was trying to decide what type of text form a 'dialouge' was exactly.

Despite the fact that we all went a bit ADD in the afternoon, I did find a page that described several different types of poetry. I scribbled a wee note to myself while the other writers weren't looking and this morning I visited Inspire me Thursday. Great things seem to happen on Thursdays, (I've also noted in the past that there's a site called Poetry Thursday) anyway it's broken and I'm wondering now how many years it's been broken and whether I'll be writing poems about foliage FOREVER.

Anyway here is a wee Haiku:

The Curtain Twitcher Watches

The path to learning
through voices of oral foliage;
autumn long ago.

That's Thursdays for you -unreliable!

Interesting haiku, not usual to give them a title though is it?
I think that might be construed as cheating :)

I guess it is cheating, but, but, but... why does it have to be? I've just found a quote describing Haiku as the smallest literary form with the greatest amount of rules. Gosh and there was me thinking a hiaku one week, a cinquain the next...

Cheat away. Purists would say that they should never be translated/written in another language anyway.

Love 'oral foliage' - not sure why.

In which case why even to stick to the rule of where, what, why or was it when, where, what or what, which, where...

thursdays are the worst days of my weeks, usually super busy at work. at least i know that life is at an equilibrium with both of us on different ends of the scale on thursdays. :)

like your haiku...and no, not cheating for me. 'cos i give titles to all my haikus. ;)

My Thursday mornings actually start really nicely; it's the rest of the day that's a bitch! Anyway glad to know that I'm not the only cheater. This is all experimentation for me anyway, this poetry malarkey. It started out as a bit of fun on the blog, but I'm trying to be a wee bit more serious (in a non-serious kind of way), so any advice helps.

Sometimes the best writing is done when one is not writing, or so says me, an unpublished writer.

Love the haiku. I just adore those little things and tip my hat to those who can pull it off.

You know what GT, I hope you're right, cos yesterday I had a whole wonderful VE day off work and I wrote a haiku, I cleaned my windows using a French tradition of using newspapers (thankfully it worked a treat cos I was a bit worried that Sarkozy would be smeared all over my windows), I sat in front of my computer for a bit, I had a sneaking suspicion that the bit I was currently writing was boring, I rewrote my synopsis, I deleted the boring bit, I played spider solitaire, I played jigsawduko, I tinkered with a few sentences, I rewatched an episode of Grey's Anatomy, I downloaded a Sing Sing album. So all in all that must be a really productive writing day. Right?

don't newspapers work great for cleaning windows?
Haiku is lovely.
I like yours!

I'm glad you liked the poem. I may do another one later on today; I ventured to Poetry Thursday even though the 'POETS' scare me.
And yeah, the newspaper thing. This is where the brits are going wrong wasting their time with the Chamois leather. Oh by the way check out the article in the Guardian today called: Goodbye la belle France! It was far more amusing than the class I was meant to be teaching!

Nice haiku and thanks for the Inspire Me link. Looks interesting.

Yeah, it's fixed now and it turns out it's a 'VISUAL ARTS' site, but nay matter. A word is a word is a word...
